Why publish how the review numbers were produced?
Because a star rating on a plumbing website is the least trustworthy number on the internet, and saying where one came from is the only thing that separates a real figure from a decorative one. The rating and the count on this site are what the company’s own Google Business Profile displays, read on a stated date, and the profile is linked so you can check it against what we say.
The histogram is stronger than that. Rather than turning an average into a plausible-looking distribution, the bars are recounted from the captured reviews every single time the site is built, and there is an automated check that fails the build if the numbers stop agreeing with the source data.
One more rule worth stating: a featured review is matched to its author by a fragment of its text, never by name. Two different people on one profile can share a display name, and a name lookup can put a stranger’s face over somebody else’s words.

Are these all the reviews?
They are the reviews captured from the profile on the date shown, which is stated on this page rather than left vague. The profile itself is linked, and it is the live source: if a number here and a number there disagree, the profile is right and this page is out of date.
Why does the count here differ slightly from the profile?
Because they measure two different things and we would rather show both than pick one. The profile displays its own count; the capture is the set of individual reviews we were able to read and quote from. The site reports the displayed figure and counts the captured set separately.
Do you filter out bad reviews?
No, and the mechanism makes that checkable rather than a promise. The histogram is recounted from the captured set at build time, so if a review below five stars existed in that set, the bar for it would appear on this page automatically.
Can I leave a review?
Yes, through the Google Business Profile linked on this page. We would rather have an accurate one than a good one, because the whole point of publishing how these numbers are made is that they are worth reading.
